Developed by Jetro Lauha, Truck Dismount is a 3D ragdoll mini-game. It is both hilarious and innovative, desperately trying to beat your highest score by crashing a truck into a wall with a dummy inside (the aim being to do as much damage to the dummy as possible).

The 3D graphical appearance is rather crude and simplistic but fortunately it works because of the simplistic nature of the game. The sound is a secondary part of the game. The music does little to enhance the game and can be turned off, which isn’t to say that it’s awful – just repetitive. The few sound effects that do inhabit the game are effective from the perspective of ‘feeling’ the crash.

The game is generally played for laughs. There are two aspects from the game that will keep the player glued to the screen (for a couple of hours at least): firstly, the physics are realistic and secondly, there are various options that can be tweaked which will affect the crash. Considering its simplicity, replayability is actually quite high. While most will play it for the pure amusement, there are those who will try to beat their previous scores.

If you’ve never heard of this before or never gotten around to trying it out, I would highly recommend that you do, if only for the amusement factor. It’s only a mini-game but it has been influential and is well worth looking at.
