Developed by talented Game Maker developer Shaun Noel, who sadly took his own life early in 2006, Street Bike Fury is a fast-paced, action packed, 2D side-scrolling shoot ‘em up. Leave your brain at the door, ride a motorbike, perform flips, shoot bad guys, cause general havoc and rack up as many points as possible.

If you’re a Shaun Noel fan, than you’ll know what to expect graphically – that distinct comical style is there, as always. That isn’t to say that the graphics are perfect but the game is so fast-paced that most people are not likely to care.

The soundtrack consists of two songs from an alternative band, Stain’d, while the sounds are loud. I’m not sure where this stands from a legal stand point but whatever the case, the heavy music fits the game like a glove.

The game is pure adrenaline-charge action. You ride a motorbike as fast as you can, picking off the bad guys left, right and centre, all the while performing flips and destroying as much of the landscape as you can, whether it be running over civilians, crashing through buildings, knocking down signs or generally making things blow up. Sounds like a movie, doesn’t it? Instead of levels, the game is split into ‘waves’ and plays out as one continuous level with various sections of the landscape repeating themselves at random. The controls are similar to that of a first person shooter and the difficulty level is reasonable. You score points for any of the chaos you cause and as with the Jetz series, causing chaos is precisely what makes the game so much fun. All in all, the gameplay mechanics work well.

If more action games were developed like this, I’d be a happy guy. There is no doubt improvements could have been made, as Shaun originally planned but let’s not forget that this game at is still a lot of fun. Add this to ‘must play.’
