The ever popular Icy Tower. Is it all that its hyped up to be? Does it deserve its reputation? The aim of this game is simple - control a small homeboy with a beanie on, jump from platform to platform and keep above the bottom of the screen as it automatically scrolls upwards. Fall off the screen and its game over. That's about it. Sounds pretty simple, doesn't it? It sortof is.

Graphically, the game has a lot of charm. The little homeboy is as cute as they come and the animations that accompany him are rather comical. Every one hundred platforms, the general theme of the foreground and background change, giving the game some much needed variety. Without this, the concept would most definitely become stale, due to the repetitiveness of the gameplay mechanics.

The game simply consists of running, jumping and generally trying to move in an upward direction - nothing more, nothing less. The concept works to a degree. This could be classed as a mini-game, considering its lack of depth. It could easily have been repetitive (and will become so, if you play it for too long in the one sitting, regardless of the changing themes). Combos can be scored by jumping up multiple platforms at once. This increases its replayability, although only slightly.

In the context of its concept, there are few improvements that could have been made. Adding too many other gameplay elements may have taken away from what it was trying to be - simple and fun.
